Crossrail has launched an exciting new section for young people on its website.
It contains stories from the Crossrail education programme which has been involving young people in the transport industry for more than four years.
Projects have included parliament in action, seeing the process of a hybrid bill going through Parliament, tackling the challenge of making improvements inside a station which is a listed building, and primary school children providing bright and lively designs for hoardings round a worksite.
There is a special curriculum based area for teachers with material about wildlife, environmental impacts, history of railways, station development to draw from to use.
A section on the environment includes information on newts, bats, trees and the geology of the area through which Crossrail will run.
And a games area has been added, to show that it can all be fun as well!
The Young Crossrail programme also sets out to encourage and interest young people in jobs in the engineering and construction industries.
People currently working for Crossrail in a variety of engineering and other roles, talk about their jobs and there is a helpful reference section for young people to follow up.
'We hope that this new website section will help to encourage young people, who are the passengers of tomorrow, to become involved in the creation of a new transport network. And we hope it will help bridge that gap between school and commerce and encourage young people to think about a career in engineering, construction or allied industries,' said Clinton Leeks, Corporate Affairs Director.
