The Summer edition of the 'The Link', a newsletter aimed at young people to involve them in the Crossrail project has been launched.
Three hundred thousand copies of the magazine, which aims to keep both students and teachers informed of new developments, have been printed and sent to over 750 schools along the Crossrail route, from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west, through London to Essex and Kent in the east. The newsletter is also published on the Crossrail website.
'The opinions and ideas of young people are extremely important to the development of the railway as they are its future passengers, and will be using it for work and pleasure in the city centre,' said Clinton Leeks, Corporate Affairs Director at Cross London Rail Links.
This edition gives an update on a recent meeting with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to underline government support for the project, looks at the recent consultation for a station at Woolwich, and features support from the business Community.
It also reveals the finalists of the last two Link competitions with their winning entries and features a brand new competition to design a recycling centre for a Crossrail station.
This is the ninth edition of 'The Link' newsletter, which is distributed to schools within a mile of the proposed Crossrail route and is part of Crossrail's ongoing education programme. This programme involves working with young people and communities living along the proposed route of the Crossrail line, and is a key part of our commitment to work with the community.
A download of the newsletter is available at www.crossrail.co.uk.
