Cross London Rail Links (CLRL) is seeking to appoint consulting engineers and other designers to carry out detailed design work.
This will be to work up the project's design to a more detailed level covering all aspects of the whole scheme.
This follows on from the Second Reading of the Crossrail Bill being given approval by the House of Commons in July.
The work would extend over the duration of the project, including the technical supervision of construction activities.
CLRL is also seeking to appoint a firm of Design Managers to be responsible for the delivery of the next stage of the development prior to commencement of construction.
'Having achieved the historic milestone of the Second Reading, we can now move forward in developing the details of the scheme and establishing a framework for dealing with the next stage of work,' said Keith Berryman, CLRL acting Chief Executive.
A procurement process will begin shortly, following the placement of an OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) notice.
