Crossrail is an ambitious project to construct a new railway for London and the South-East. As well as providing vital new transport infrastructure, Crossrail is a catalyst for regeneration providing jobs in the UK economy and relieving congestion with new routes, less crowding and faster reliable connections.
We believe that new ideas, ground-breaking technology and innovations happen when you have a diverse team of people who each contribute new and different ways of thinking. We believe that our continued success depends on these diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds that our employees bring to the company and to the project as a whole.
In this section you can find out about the broad range of roles we offer across the project.
An introduction from Dawn Barker, Head of Human Resources
I joined Crossrail 11 years ago as Human Resources Manager when we were a very small organisation of 14 employees.
Life today is very different, we are actually building what was then just a dream to many Londoners - a new railway across London.
For me joining a company at the initial stage of the project was very exciting. I had a desk and a phone and nothing else so everything today from an employment point of view I have been instrumental in building and creating, which has been very satisfying.
Not many HR professionals have this opportunity so I consider myself very lucky.
I am now Head of Human Resources, I have a team of eight HR professionals plus I also look after the Facilities team of nine members.
I am very passionate about the project and want to be on that first train when it departs. It’s nice knowing that what you do makes a difference.
