Crossrail with partners, Atkins, Grimshaw and GIA equation, has launched a design competition which challenges undergraduates to develop a concept design for a station platform seat. The winning designer will be selected by an expert panel and offered a one year fixed term contract with Atkins.
"The competition provides a unique, career boosting opportunity for young designers to participate in a project which is set to lead the way in future transport infrastructure design," explains Terry Morgan, Crossrail's Chairman. With few practical restrictions for the concept seat design, final year undergraduate design students are being encouraged to unlock their creative thinking. "We want to inspire ideas," adds Peter Morley, Atkins' Project Manager.
