Company

Efficient, direct rail links across London are essential to safeguard the long-term economic prosperity of the Capital.

Crossrail Ltd (CRL) is a company which was established in 2001 to promote and develop these vital links to meet the needs of people and businesses throughout the South East, and to ensure that London continues in its role as the Europe's leading financial and business centre.

It was a 50/50 joint venture company between Transport for London (TfL) and the Department for Transport (DfT) until 5 December 2008 when it became a fully owned subsidiary of TfL. CRL represents a real commitment to the development of new services to tackle the lack of capacity and congestion on the existing network.

By bringing forward a scheme which is feasible, practical and likely to achieve private sector partner funding, Crossrail will help to support economic growth and boost the region's regeneration areas.

To achieve this, we have consulted with a broad range of stakeholders and the public at large. In July 2008 the scheme gained parliamentary approval with the passing of the Crossrail Act.

Your assistance and support will be vital to our success in providing London with the best scheme to support the future of the capital as a world city.
