The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has today published revised proposals for alterations to the London Plan to help fund Crossrail. The alterations were first announced last December so that new office developments, in central London and in the northern part of the Isle of Dogs could be required, through the planning system, to make a financial contribution towards the cost of Crossrail.

Crossrail Ltd today appointed Andrew Mitchell, the current Major Programme Director with Network Rail's Thameslink Programme, as Programme Director for Crossrail. Dr Graham Plant, Interim Crossrail Programme Director will remain with the project until Mr Mitchell joins later in the year, to enable a smooth transition to be made at Crossrail and the Thameslink Programme.
