CLRL has in recent months been assessing the carbon footprint for both the construction of the Crossrail project (as set out in the Environmental and Supplementary Environmental Statements) and the railway's future operation.

The CLRL main board has authorised the Executive Chairman to issue a statement of the company's commitments (a document right which can be downloaded) with regard to minimising our contribution to climate change and working towards a sustainable railway for London and the Southeast.

These commitments will be kept under careful review by CLRL through the lifetime of the Crossrail project.
