Western tunnels contractor brings colour to local school

Our western tunnels contractor BFK, a BAM Ferrovial Kier Joint Venture, has sponsored the refurbishment of the playground area at St Joseph’s Primary School in Camden.

One of the challenges the school faces is the limited space for outdoor activities. The play area is on two levels, ground level and basement, and they wanted to make the best use of the space.

Despite work to treat the damp and lighting issues, the basement playground area remained unappealing. Crossrail Community Relations Manager, Shelley Browne, highlighted the situation early this summer and BFK offered their help to the school. BFK decided to sponsor professionally painted murals by Love Art for Schools - a company that specializes in creating art for children that is stimulating and engaging.

Siobhan Horisk, Deputy Head Teacher at St Joseph's said: “When Crossrail came to work near our school, we were very pleased to meet Richard Gethin and Mabel Garcia from BFK and appreciated that they were keen to make a lasting contribution to the school. This donation has made a huge difference and has left us with a greatly improved play environment for our children."
