Salvation Army Hall, Plumstead
Plumstead contractor Hochtief-Murphy Joint Venture (HMJV) completed a community investment initiative at the local Salvation Army branch, completely redecorating the main hall and purchasing new kitchen equipment and furniture.
Over two days 11 volunteers spent more than 100 hours putting up scaffolding towers and repainting the hall, transforming it into a clean, bright space. The project was supported by members of the community who supplied tea, coffee, bacon sandwiches and hot soup.
Lieutenant Nicky Davies of the Plumstead Salvation Army praised HMJV’s work, saying: “It will really benefit the local people that use the hall. We can’t thank the painting team enough!”.
Jeff Clegg, Crossrail’s Area Delivery Director added: “Volunteering on projects like this, as well as being great fun and a team building opportunity, gives us an even better understanding of the communities in which we are working, and helps us get to know the people who will be Crossrail’s future passengers”.
