Environment

Crossrail Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL) and is committed to implementing all the provisions in theTfL Health, Safety and Environment Policy. Our approach to the environment is set out in the Crossrail Environmental Policy and our Environmental Objectives.

Environmental Statement

An Environmental Statement (ES) has been prepared for the scheme. It comprises a main ES which was submitted alongside the Crossrail Bill in Febuary 2005 and a number of additional volumes which were published between May 2005 and May 2007. Copies of the ES are available on request from Crossrail. A free non-technical summary of the ES is also available.

Environmental Minimum Requirements

The standards and procedures that have been agreed with local authorities and statutory agencies to control and manage environmental impacts are contained in a set of documents known as the Crossrail Environmental Minimum Requierments (EMR). The EMR includes the Crossrail Construction Code, which explains how contractors work will be controlled, and other controls relating to the environment, heritage and planning. It also includes the Register of Undertakings and Assurances made to Parliament.

Environmental Management System

Crossrail has developed an Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with the principles of ISO14001, the international EMS standard, which helps us to manage our environmental responsibilities and risks.

Environmental Policy

Crossrail is committed to implementing all the provisions in the TfL Health, Safety and Environment Policy (HSE). Our policy approach to the environment is set out in the Crossrail Programme Health, Safety and Environment Policy and is reflected in our Environment Objectives.
