Crossrail will offer quicker journey times

Crossrail can carry 78,000 passengers per hour - twice the capacity of the Jubilee line - and dramatically reduce journey times in some cases by as much as 40 per cent.

  • Heathrow to Liverpool Street 36 minutes
  • Heathrow to Canary Wharf 43 minutes
  • Heathrow to Stratford 40 minutes

The West End will be 31 minutes from Heathrow and

  • 19 minutes from Southall
  • 22 minutes from Woolwich
  • 20 minutes from Ilford
  • 31 minutes from Romford.

Crossrail will provide better connections

Crossrail will connect to 6 London Underground lines at 10 stations.

  • Docklands Light Railway (DLR) at Isle of Dogs, Custom House and Stratford
  • Thameslink at Farringdon
  • London Overground at Whitechapel and Stratford
  • National Rail at Maidenhead, Slough, Hayes and Harlington, Ealing Broadway, Paddington, Moorgate, Liverpool Street, Stratford, Romford, Abbey Wood and Shenfield.

International Connections

In addition to the link with Heathrow, Crossrail will also link to Stansted Airport via Liverpool Street, and Gatwick and Luton via Thameslink at Farringdon. It will provide improved links from central London to London City Airport (nearest Crossrail station: Custom House) and Stratford International (nearest Crossrail station: Stratford).
