Environment : The History of Paddington Station

Paddington station will be a main station on the Crossrail route. At the moment passengers travelling across London have to change trains at Paddington. When Crossrail is built they will be able to travel directly to the other side of London without changing.

Paddington station is a Grade 1 Listed Building. It has been in use since it was finished in 1854. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom BruneI, in association with the architect Matthew Digby Wyatt. It was based on the Crystal Palace. This was designed by Sir Joseph Paxton for The Great Exhibition of 1851. It was moved to South London were it burnt down in 1936.
