This innovative course was aimed at Gifted and Talented Students across London.
The course was developed in partnership with London Gifted and Talented, The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and the Parliamentary Education Unit.
The workshop programme was actively supported by:
- Rt Hon D Twigg MP Minister for Transport;
- Meg Hillier MP;
- The Crossrail Select Committee
- Crossrail Executive Chairman, Senior Management, Public Affairs and Environmental teams;
- Anthony Ferguson Senior Civil Servant DfT;
- Landmark Chambers - Barristers;
- A S Biss – Parliamentary Lobby Firm;
- The Royal Courts of Justice.
The course was designed for 30 students. Appropriate secondary schools across London were invited to participate by London Gifted and Talented. Ten schools applied for the course and six schools were accepted. Each was allocated places for five students and one teacher. Five schools completed the course:
- George Greens School – Tower Hamlets
- Bow School – Tower Hamlets
- Hayes School – Bromley
- Woodbridge High School – Redbridge
- Stratford School – Newham
Building on the last course there were two important changes:
1. Each workshop would feature a related 'Vocational' visit in the afternoon,
2. The teachers would be set professional development tasks during each workshop.
