Projects : Skillcity 2005
SkillCity was held at the Excel, Docklands 6th – 9th July 2005. It was planned to be the UK's largest ever interactive careers and training event for young people. Schools across the country were contacted and extensive publicity targetted young people, not at school, and families.
There were three stand activities planned and coordinated by Young Crossrail:
The event was well attended on the first day but the London bombing on the Thursday led to many schools leaving early. The school invited to work on the stand was closed due to its proximety to one of the bomb sites and therefore did not attend on Friday.
There were three stand activities planned and coordinated by Young Crossrail:
- Production of a newsletter by a group of school students;
- Interactive activities for stand visitors to illustrate engineering principles;
- A daily competition for stand visitors – in conjunction with Construction Skills CITB.
