The workshops were designed to broaden the students experience of design and design briefs, architecture and presentation methods.
At the workshops, and for the final presentation, the students worked in mixed school, and age, groups. Whilst at school, and for other students within school, an online support network was created by London Gifted and Talented.
The course was initiated by Young Crossrail and actively supported by:

- London Gifted and Talented;

- Ian Ritchie Architects;
- Marks Barfield Architects;
- The Network Model Makers;
- The Financial Services Authority.
The Schools involved were:
- Tower Hamlets - Oaklands and Stepney Green;
- Newham - Roekby and St Bonadventures;
- Kensington & Chelsea - Cardinal Vaughan and Westminster City;
- Ealing - Elthorne Park, Brentside High and Twyford High.
