Kathryn Cearns OBE

Kathryn Cearns is a chartered accountant with extensive senior level experience in both the public and private sectors.

Kathryn Cearns was Chair of the Financial Reporting Advisory Board to HM Treasury from 2010 to 2016 and Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Financial Reporting Committee for 10 years up to the end of 2017 and was on the Council until March 2019.

Kathryn holds a number of non-executive, trustee and advisory appointments including non-executive director at Highways England and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, Chair of the Office of Tax Simplification, member of the External Audit Committee for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), non-executive director of the UK Supreme Court, non-executive director of Companies House, non-executive director of The Property Ombudsman and Trustee of the Royal British Legion Industries.

Kathryn’s past roles include Project Director at the UK Accounting Standards Board and for many years as the consultant accountant for Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, an international law firm.
