Environmental Statement and Objectives

Environmental Statement

Crossrail received Royal Assent under the Crossrail Act 2008. The Act was accompanied by an Environmental Statement (ES). It comprises a main ES which was submitted alongside the Crossrail Bill in February 2005 and a number of additional volumes which were published between May 2005 and May 2007.

The Crossrail ES was supported by a series of Specialist Technical Reports.

Environmental Minimum Requirements

The construction of Crossrail will be governed by the Environmental Minimum Requirements which comprise:

1. General Principles
2. The Construction Code
3. The Planning & Heritage Memorandum
4. The Environmental Memorandum

The EMR sets out the measures to control and manage environmental impacts that contractors and others working to build the Elizabeth line work under. It was developed by Crossrail Ltd by working with the relevant Local Authorities and Statutory Agencies.
