Video: Crossrail's second TBM Ada moved to Royal Oak Portal

By Tom Lawson

Crossrail's second TBM Ada was moved from Westbourne Park into position at Royal Oak Portal over the weekend of 9/10 June 2012.

As you can see from the short time lapse video, she was placed onto a self-propelled mobile trailer and moved towards the portal, around 600 metres from Westbourne Park where she was assembled.

The Hampden Street Footbridge was temporarily closed and carefully jacked up to allow the tunnel boring machine to pass through.

Ada will now undergo final testing ahead of being launched.

Crossrail's first TBM, Phyllis, was launched in May and is progressing towards Paddington station.  When Ada reaches Paddington, both machines will then progress forward through the Paddington station box and onwards to Farringdon.
